Canada is massive. It famously spans six time zones. Do not try to see "Canada" in one trip. Focus on one coast or one region. The West (BC/Alberta) is about mountains and ocean. The East (Ontario/Quebec) is about culture, history, and cities.
Canada is generally expensive. Food, alcohol, and gas are priced higher than in the US. Tipping is also expected, similar to the US (15-20% at restaurants). The currency is the Canadian Dollar (CAD), which usually trades lower than the USD, offering some relief to American travelers.
Summer (July-August) is beautiful but busy and expensive. Shoulder season (September/October) offers stunning fall colors and cooler weather. Winter (December-March) is world-class for skiing but requires proper gear. Do not underestimate the cold; temperatures in the prairies and mountains can drop below -30°C.
